At-Home Massage in Central Bangalore: From Lavelle Road to Cooke Town

Bungalows in Cooke Town, apartments off Lavelle Road, large family homes in Sadashivanagar. A plain guide to booking a private two-hour session in the middle of the city.

Central Bangalore is a strange place to live in the best sense. The commercial core around MG Road, Brigade Road and Residency Road is minutes from some of the quietest residential streets in the city: apartment buildings off Lavelle Road and Vittal Mallya Road, the older homes of Richmond Town and Langford Town, the cantonment-era bungalows and lanes of Cooke Town, Frazer Town and Benson Town, and the large gardens of Sadashivanagar near Sankey Tank.

You might think living this close to everything makes an at-home massage less necessary. In practice it is often the opposite.

Close is not the same as easy

The distances in central Bangalore are short and the journeys are not. One-way systems double back on themselves, parking near MG Road is its own small project, and a spa three kilometres away can still mean half an hour each way plus the wait for your car. Many of the city's hotel spas are clustered in this part of town, and they are lovely, but the pattern is the same as anywhere: sixty or ninety minutes on the table, then a drive home through evening traffic with your shoulders slowly climbing back up.

In the centre of the city, the journey is short on the map and long in the body.

A home session removes the journey entirely. When the two hours end, you are already where you want to be. For a fuller comparison of the two experiences, see home massage versus a spa in Bangalore, and for the numbers, the 2026 price comparison.

Different homes, different notes

Apartments off Lavelle Road, Richmond Road and around MG Road

Many buildings here have a concierge, a security desk or a visitor register, and some ask for advance notice for any visitor carrying equipment. Share Rana's name and phone number with the desk when you book, and mention where a visitor's car can wait. A bedroom or study with roughly 2m x 2.5m of clear floor, a door that closes and a plug point is all the table needs.

Older houses tend to have generous rooms and thick walls, which helps with quiet. They can also have rooms that open onto verandahs or gardens, so choose one with a door you can close and windows you can shut against street noise. In Frazer Town, the streets around Mosque Road become very crowded on evenings during Ramzan, so daytime slots are the easier choice in that month.

In bigger houses, space is never the issue; privacy is. The next section is mostly for you.

Privacy in a house with staff

Many central Bangalore homes run with help: a cook, someone who cleans, a driver, security at the gate. They are part of the rhythm of the house, and they also mean that two hours of genuine privacy takes a moment's planning.

  • Choose a room away from the kitchen and the service areas. An upstairs bedroom or a guest room at the end of a corridor is usually best.
  • Tell the household once, clearly. You will be unavailable for two and a half hours, the room should not be disturbed, and any calls can wait.
  • Let the gate know. Rana's name and number with security, in advance, avoids a phone call just as the session begins.
  • Put your phone somewhere out of reach. This is the one people skip, and it is the one that matters most.

RanaRestore accepts appointments from women only, and Rana, a male therapist, conducts every session himself. The door stays closed, you undress to your own comfort level in privacy, and you stay draped throughout, with only the area being worked on uncovered. You can change the pressure, skip an area or stop at any point. If you are booking any home service for the first time, these twelve checks are worth five minutes.

Two hours, not one

Busy calendars tend to push people towards the shortest option. It is worth resisting. The first stretch of any massage is spent persuading your nervous system that it is safe to let go; in a sixty-minute slot, that leaves very little time for the work itself.

A two-hour session starts with a quiet consultation about problem areas and pressure, then blends Swedish, deep tissue and head, neck and shoulder work around what your body presents that day. You do not need to choose a technique. The final part is lighter and slower, and the close is unhurried: you stay on the table as long as you like, and the table, linens, towels and oils leave with the therapist. If your tension lives mostly in the neck and upper back, this piece on the Bangalore neck explains why the time matters.

A note on health

Massage is a wellness service, not medical treatment. If you have an injury, a medical condition, or you are pregnant or postnatal, please get clearance from your doctor or physiotherapist before booking.

Timing in the centre

Central Bangalore sits well inside the Outer Ring Road, so the standard arrival window applies. Weekday mid-mornings and early afternoons are usually the easiest, before the evening build-up around MG Road, Cubbon Road and the approaches to the centre. Block two and a half hours in your calendar so the session does not bump into your next commitment. And if you are thinking of giving a session to someone else, this gifting guide explains how to make sure it actually gets booked.

Price

The Signature Session is ₹10,000 for two hours at your home, with no travel charge and nothing added at the end. Appointments are limited each month.

Questions people ask

Which parts of central Bangalore do you cover?

All of them, including MG Road, Lavelle Road, Richmond Town, Langford Town, Frazer Town, Cooke Town, Benson Town, Vasanth Nagar and Sadashivanagar. There is no travel charge anywhere in Bangalore.

Is a home session better than a hotel spa near MG Road?

It is a different product. A hotel spa offers a facility: steam, a pool, a beautiful setting. A home session offers two full hours of bodywork with nobody else booked into your slot, and no journey back afterwards. Which is better depends on whether you want a day out or two hours of stillness.

My building has a concierge and visitor registration. What should I share?

Share Rana's name and phone number with the concierge or security desk when you book, along with any parking instructions. That way the session starts on time rather than in the lobby.

How far in advance should I book?

Appointments are limited each month, so a week or two ahead is sensible if you have a particular day in mind. Weekend mornings tend to go first.
