At-Home Massage in Hennur and Thanisandra: Two Hours Between the School Runs
Big gated communities, a busy school corridor and Manyata on the doorstep. How a home session works in north-east Bangalore, and which slots suit the outer parts.
North-east Bangalore has filled in quickly. Hennur Road runs out from Kalyan Nagar and HBR Layout, crosses the Outer Ring Road at Hennur junction and carries on as the Hennur-Bagalur Road towards Kothanur, Byrathi and the airport side of the city. A little to the west, Thanisandra Main Road runs north from Nagawara and Manyata Tech Park, past Rachenahalli Lake, towards Hegde Nagar. Between them is a dense spread of large gated communities, newer apartment towers and independent houses on older village roads.
Plenty of families live here for the same reasons: space, newer homes, reasonable access to Manyata and the airport, and a cluster of schools along these roads. That last point shapes the day more than people expect.
Inside and beyond the ring road
The ORR cuts straight through this part of the city, so where you live changes the scheduling:
- Inside or close to the ring road, in Kalyan Nagar, HBR Layout, around Hennur junction and Nagawara, the standard arrival window applies.
- Beyond it, in Kothanur, Byrathi, along Bagalur Road and in the northern parts of Thanisandra towards Hegde Nagar, the arrival window is a little wider, and early and mid-morning slots work best.
The reason is simply the roads. Hennur Road and Thanisandra Main Road narrow in places, the ORR junctions back up at peak hours, and school traffic adds its own rush. The session itself does not change: two full hours of hands-on work, ₹10,000, and no travel charge.
The school-hours window
If your children are in school, you already know that your real free time is not "the morning". It is the stretch between drop-off and pick-up, minus the traffic at each end. For many parents here that is the only reliable quiet in a weekday, and it lines up neatly with the morning slots that suit the outer parts of the area.
A few things make that window work:
- Start with a buffer after drop-off. Arriving home at the last minute, still running, is a poor way to begin two hours of rest.
- Allow about two and a half hours in total, then leave a gap before pick-up. The hour after a session is best spent slowly, not in the car queue outside a school gate.
- Tell anyone who works in the house that you are unavailable and the room should not be disturbed.
What you do afterwards matters as much as the timing. If you have booked inside school hours, the most useful thing is very little: drink some water, eat something light, and give yourself at least fifteen quiet minutes before the pick-up. Driving straight into Hennur Road traffic with loosened shoulders is the fastest way to tighten them again. This guide to the hours after a massage has more.
If you are carrying a toddler rather than dropping one off, this piece on the toddler-carrying body is closer to your situation.
Gated communities, clubhouses and the spare room
Many communities here have a clubhouse, and some have a gym or a small treatment room. The honest difference between that and a home session is privacy and time. A shared facility is booked in slots, and you walk home afterwards past neighbours and the pool. At home, you stay exactly where you are.
On the practical side, pre-approve the visit on your society app and mention the folding massage table. In larger communities, share your tower or villa number and the nearest gate, because the walk from the wrong gate can be long. Inside, you need roughly 2 metres by 2.5 metres of clear floor, a door that closes and a plug point. Rana brings the table, linens, towels and oils. In a three or four-bedroom flat, the guest room is usually the quietest choice.
The quiet hours between drop-off and pick-up are rare. Spend them lying down.
What the driving does
Family life in north-east Bangalore involves a lot of driving: school runs, classes, Manyata commutes, airport trips. Stop-start traffic on Hennur Road or around Nagawara is hard on the body in a specific way. The right leg works the pedals in short bursts for an hour, the right hip and lower back take the strain, and the shoulders rise a little at every junction.
A session begins with a quiet consultation about where you feel it, what pressure you like and what to avoid. It then blends slow Swedish strokes, deeper work into the hips and back where needed, and focused head, neck and shoulder work, so you do not need to choose a technique. This guide to hip tightness explains why sitting and driving lock the hips, and this one covers the lower back.
If you have an injury, pain that is getting worse or a medical condition, or are pregnant or postnatal, please get clearance from a doctor or physiotherapist first. Massage is a wellness service, not a treatment.
Women only, by appointment
RanaRestore is for women only, strictly by appointment. Rana, a male therapist, conducts every session himself. As with any professional, you are draped throughout, only the area being worked on is uncovered, and you can adjust or stop at any point. These twelve checks are worth reading before you book any home service.
Nearby
West of Thanisandra, Hebbal and Yelahanka follow the same ring-road logic, and RT Nagar is a short way south-west. To the south-east along the ORR, KR Puram shares the morning-first approach.
Questions people ask
Do you cover Hennur, Kothanur and Thanisandra?
Yes, including Kalyan Nagar, HBR Layout, Hennur-Bagalur Road, Kothanur, Byrathi, Nagawara and Thanisandra Main Road. Sessions are for women only, by appointment.
Is the arrival window the same across the whole area?
No. Inside and close to the Outer Ring Road the standard window applies. Beyond it, in Kothanur, Byrathi, along Bagalur Road and in northern Thanisandra, it is a little wider and morning slots work best.
Can I fit a session between school drop-off and pick-up?
Usually, yes. Allow about two and a half hours in total, start with a buffer after drop-off, and leave a gap before pick-up so you are not rushing straight out.
How much does a home massage in Hennur or Thanisandra cost?
₹10,000 for two hours in your home, with no travel charge and nothing added at the end.
